At the end of the show, Lionel reportedly asked his team for a chair as he sang the final song, “All Night Long.” After leaving the venue, Lionel checked himself into an area hospital, where he was reportedly in the intensive care unit.

“The entertainer checked himself into the hospital on August 29 for testing. A source close to Lionel claimed the singer was experiencing potential dehydration, while other sources told us the issues were related to his heart,” TMZ reported.

Lionel Richie Made it Back Home to Los Angeles

People reported that a representative for Lionel Richie said the star flew back to his home in Los Angeles on September 2 and is “doing great.” It’s unclear what actually brought Lionel to the hospital, but the good news is he seems to be on the mend. Lionel had a similar issue on June 24, 2026, when he had to cut his Minneapolis show short after experiencing a dizzy spell on stage.

Hearing the news that Lionel Richie was out of the hospital and back home made many fans happy.
